The state of Oklahoma has officially closed its last private prison with the $12 million purchase of the Lawton facility. The purchase was made in an effort to reduce costs and increase oversight in the state's corrections system. The closure of the private prison is expected to save the state millions of dollars and improve conditions for inmates.
